Richard received his BA in Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo, an MA in Theology from St Michael's University in the Toronto School of Theology, and a PhD in Theology from Wycliffe College. He has served in a number of Presbyterian congregations and has taught at Presbyterian College in the Montreal School of Theology at McGill. Currently the VST St Andrew's Chair in Studies in the Reformed Tradition, he teaches in the areas of Introduction to Theology, Reformation History, Christian Spirituality, and Reformed Theology of the 19th and 20th Centuries. He has also lectured at Regent College in Theology and Proclamation.
