It is our tradition at St. John’s Shaughnessy to have a service in honour of St. Francis where we have our pets blessed at the church. While with COVID-19 one might think that this is not possible, we have come up with a solution! We will have a Drive-Through (or Walk-Through) Blessing of the Animals today, October 4 at 3:00pm.
Bring your pet (dog, cat, goldfish, parrot, gerbil, snake, etc) on a leash or in a carrier (or a picture of a pet who has died) for a very short service in the garden. We will use a microphone so everyone can stay socially distanced or even in their car. As part of this short service, anyone who wishes can drive or walk through the driveway of the church, stop at the Nanton Street door to meet one of the clergy who will offer God’s blessing on your pet.
