St. Timothy’s Church holds its fifteenth annual Pet Blessing on Tuesday October 3, from 7 - 8pm. This celebration, which commemorates the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, gives thanks for God’s creation and especially for animal companions and their human partners. All animal lovers and caretakers from the North Burnaby neighbourhood and beyond are invited to stop by the labyrinth outside the church near Willingdon and Kitchener for a blessing and a treat.
The Rev. Ruth Monette, Interim Priest at St. Timothy’s, said, “The annual blessing of pets is a favourite and joyous celebration of unconditional love. It’s always a pleasure to recognize the special bond between animals and their human companions.”
Drop by anytime between 7 and 8pm. We ask that all animals be suitably leashed or caged please. Those who have shy pets are invited to bring a photograph instead. Individual prayers of blessing will be offered, and there will be doggy, kitty, and people treats. There will also be a board of remembrance on which to write the names of beloved animal companions who have recently died.
