For the first time ever there will be an Anglican Church of Canada/Diocese of New Westminster presence at one of this year’s Philippine Independence Day Celebrations.
The all day event takes place at the Memorial South Park in East Vancouver. The parishes of St. Michael, Vancouver, St. Michael, Surrey and St. Mary the Virgin, South Hill will be participating in the day and staffing an Anglican Church of Canada booth at the event.
The event begins with a Roman Catholic Mass and the Executive Board in charge of the event has approved a request that the Reverend Expedito Farinas, rector of St. Mary the Virgin share a prayer following the Catholic mass.
There will be a parade of various organizations right after the mass, followed by a flag raising ceremony by the Consul General, then various presentations. Three trips for two to Las Vegas (airfare and hotel included) will be given away on that day by our major sponsors. It will be lots of fun and festivities, as always.
