Christ Church Cathedral’s chapter of the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is holding a Solidarity Gala evening to raise funds for the PWRDF partner project in Colombia aimed at protecting the delicate Paramos ecosystem and the people whose lives are directly impacted by it.
The PWRDF partner in Columbia, Grupo Comunicarte, is a social enterprise that trains people - women, men, youth, and indigenous folks - living in rural areas of the country in radio production skills. These newly formed communicators will produce weekly radio programs educating and informing about the delicate Paramos ecosystem and ways to protect it. The project gives those most impacted by climate change a tool to help educate their communities in preserving the ecosystem their lives depend on.
Support this work of environmental transformation by coming to Christ Church Cathedral’s PWRDF Gala dinner on November 4. Local caterer Colombian Antojitos provides an elegant 3-course dinner, served family style. The menu reflects our commitment to sustainability, offering vegan-friendly options. Colombian Antojitos was started in Vancouver with the support of local social enterprise “Flavours of Hope”, which uses food to create to help newcomer women find their place of belonging.
Tickets are $65. This includes a signature Colombian mocktail (non-alcoholic)and Colombian street food inspired hors d’eurves on arrival, and an exquisite three-course meal. Our cash bar serves wine and local beer. Doors open at 5:30 pm, and dinner starts at 6:30 pm. There will also be other ways to donate and take part throughout the evening and items including PWRDF Christmas cards available to purchase.
