Bishop Melissa Skelton will preside and Archbishop Douglas Hambidge, retired Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of BC/Yukon and VIIth Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster will preach.
The liturgy will be followed by a luncheon, the distribution of Sacred Chrism and Oil of Healing, and a talk by The Right Reverend Terry Dance.
All clergy and laity are invited to participate in renewing their baptismal vows, and, in the case of clergy, in renewing their ordination vows and receiving Holy Oils for use in their parish.
One container of each oil will be provided to each parish and should be collected by a clergy person before leaving the Cathedral. Clergy are asked to bring the jars provided last year so they can be refilled-please be sure they are clean.
Clergy will vest in cassock and surplice (preferred) or cassock alb. Please arrive in the Choir Room to be vested by 11:30am.
The liturgical colour is red.
After the luncheon, everyone is invited to a talk by The Right Reverend Terry Dance. Bishop Dance was ordained transitional deacon in 1977. After a curacy at St John the Evangelist, London, Ontario he served parishes in Chesley, Tara, Windsor and Simcoe. He was also regional dean of Norfolk deanery, archdeacon of Brant archdeaconry, and dean of Huron. Bishop Dance was elected suffragan bishop (Norfolk) in the Diocese of Huron and retired on December 31, 2015.
Bishop Skelton looks forward to seeing you at this mass and the luncheon.
