The Cathedral is pleased to announce that the service of Compline is returning for 2020.
Compline is a short, sung, evening prayer service that signals the end to the day. If you've never experienced it before, come check it out: The Cathedral lights are dimmed to create a peaceful, intimate setting, in which to soak in the Gregorian Chant sung by the Cathedral choir. It an be a great way to wind down a busy weekend and recharge for the days ahead. Compline last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and the length of the service can vary somewhat each week.
The practice of praying this final prayer of the day can be tracked to the sixth century, when St. Benedict laid out the rules about how monks should live, work, and pray. Compline is a traditional prayer in several Christian churches.
All are welcome.
