A Visit from Neighbours

Parishioners at Holy Spirit in Maple Ridge's Whonnock neighbourhood welcomed a delegation from their next-door neighbour, the Jamia Riyadhul Jannah (Garden of Heaven Mosque), on Sunday, April 28.

The neighbours came bearing flowers and a sympathy card to express sorrow over the bombings at Christian churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. Sadly, this was returning a visit made by Holy Spirit representatives to JRJ Mosque at the time of the shootings at the mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand two months ago.

The JRJ mosque opened in the fall of 2018 in a former United Church building. Since then, a close relationship of respect and cooperation has formed between the two worshipping communities.
