On Saturday, March 30, members of the altar guild, together with servers and lay administrators of St. John the Divine, Maple Ridge gathered with parish vicar, the Rev. Laurel Dahill for a day of learning and laughter. We had the opportunity to try on vestments, we discovered why the elements of our Eucharist are called what they are, discussed colours and seasons, and we can now tell a bishop from a priest from a deacon with one quick glance!
The lay administrators also enjoyed a refresher training session. The day finished with a travelling quiz that took us through the sanctuary, showing us the location of both the sacred parts of our worship as well as the more pragmatic, like fire extinguishers and light switches. This is the first in a series of workshops about the ministries of the church, and we are all looking forward to the next one!
