The season of Advent is one of waiting and preparation. And what we are waiting for is given to us in the words of the prophets:
Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son…
At the end of the season of Advent we recall that the
angel came to Mary to announce
Fear not – for you shall bear a son, and shall call him Jesus
And Mary says; “Yes”
I am the servant of the Lord
Our Advent program of words and anthems focuses on Mary, and on this Annunciation event.
The clarity of music by the great renaissance and baroque composers is teamed with the lush romanticism of that by Villette and Stanford, and the thought-provoking poetry of John Donne, Luci Shaw and Thomas Merton.
