On Sunday, November 25th, 2012, at the main Sunday morning Celebration of the Eucharist, The Venerable Dr. Ellen Clark-King, Archdeacon of Burrard took leave of her ministry post at Christ Church Cathedral to represent Bishop Michael and the diocese at a very exciting Celebration of New Ministry at St. Michael’s, Vancouver (Broadway).
It was Ellen’s happy task to oversee The Reverend Wilmer Toyoken’s
official appointment to the Eastside church. The faith community of St. Michael’s is delighted that Wilmer who has been doing this ministry for more than a year is now officially Priest-in-Charge. Ellen was also preacher at the service and her
inspirational sermon is available by clicking the link.
Another bright highlight of Sunday’s service was the presence of The Right Reverend Alexander Wandag, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Santiago, Philippines. Bishop Alex is on sabbatical leave for two months and has come to Vancouver to spend time with his family who are currently residing in Vancouver. Alex’ wife Grace, is a parishioner at St. Michael’s. The February issue of Topic will contain a feature story with photos covering Wilmer’s installation and Bishop Alex’ visit.
