Circles of Care and Connection Program
On Monday, January 10, diocesan communications received the following letter from Maaly Brake, a Child & Family Settlement Worker for Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society Circles of Care and Connection Program.
Diocesan Refugee Unit Chair, Shannon Muir, ODNW asked that this be shared through diocesan communications. Although the program is for families who have come to Canada as refugees with children under 6 who live within the City of Vancouver proper it would be good to get the word out.

To whom it may concern:
My name is Maaly Brake, I am a Child & Family Settlement Worker for Mount Pleasant Family Centre Society Circles of Care and Connection Program. I would like to introduce you our program and ask your referrals and help us to make a difference in the lives of newly arrived refugee children and their families in Vancouver.
Circles of Care and Connection is a unique FREE program which serves families who come to Canada as refugees with young children ages 0-6 years old.
Our program's staff are highly trained Early Childhood Development and Settlement professionals who will identify the basic needs of children and their family, and bridge them to local services/resources. Our program supports refugee families to improve their knowledge on positive parenting, assist them in building parental confidence and introduce them to child development (social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional, and language).
Our home visiting service makes significant changes in refugee children's lives, we see them get healthier, happier and better prepared for school, as well as, the gradual improvement of families well being. In this sense, our program is a preventative that helps to improve the quality of life for these families settled in Vancouver.
I would be pleased to provide further details of our program and hope you will help us by referring families to our services.
