On Thursday, May 16, 2019, the Reverend Dr. Lynne McNaughton was consecrated and installed as the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Kootenay.
The liturgies took place at two different locations in the BC Interior's City of Kelowna. The Ordination Eucharist was celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Roman Catholic Church and the installation took place at St. Michael's, the Cathedral church of the Diocese of Kootenay.
Presiding was the Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of BC and Yukon, the Most Reverend Melissa Skelton and preaching at the Eucharist was the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, the Most Reverend Fred Hiltz. The bishops of the province and a number of retired bishops of the province and of the national church were present and participating in the laying on of hands during the ordination of the new bishop. There were 16 bishops and archbishops in attendance.
A good many folks from the Diocese of New Westminster were in attendance including a group of 20 from St. Clement's, Lynn Valley the parish church where Bishop McNaughton had just completed 11 years as rector. Also in attendance and participating in the liturgy were Bishop McNaughton's children, Elizabeth and Anne Kessler and her husband the Reverend Dr. Gerald Hobbs.
One of the people from our diocese present was Jane Dittrich of Christ Church Cathedral who is a regular contributor to diocesan communications. Jane took many photos and selected a few to share with the diocese here on these news pages.
