Janet Morris, ODNW of St. Catherine, Capilano is committed to the connection between the Anglican Church of Canada and the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and in that spirit she has asked diocesan communications to circulate the following letter sent June 11 from the bishop of that diocese, the Right Reverend Suheil Dawani:
By the grace of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we will, by the laying of hands, offer the Episcopal ordination to the Very Reverend Hosam Elias Naoum on Sunday, 14 June 2020 at 4pm (6am PDT), with the participation of bishops from the Anglican Communion and in the presence of some of the Heads of Churches of Jerusalem.
Due to the circumstances related to the Coronavirus pandemic, attendance will be limited to some of the clergy, the family of the bishop-elect, and a few official guests, so that the attendance will not exceed fifty people in order to maintain the safety, health standards, and regulations related to the pandemic.
We had hoped that the attendance would be greater and more comprehensive so that we could join together in prayer and celebration of the new bishop. However, the exceptional circumstances in which our world lives in general, and our region in particular, has prevented our faithful brothers and sisters in other parts of our beloved diocese from participating. During the past few months, we have broadcast the Worship and Sunday services via social media, and we will livestream the Consecration Service on the following link: https://youtu.be/lUrceUEEGrc . You may also follow the order of service at the following link: https://www.flipsnack.com/Nelly2/consecration-service-english.html .
We invite you—clergy, parishes, institutions, and all believers—to pray for the ministry, witness and mission of the Church, and for our bishop-elect and his family. May God pour out His Holy Spirit upon him and enrich him with His grace so that he can continue to serve the Church for the glory of God, the furthering of His kingdom, and the service of all.
