Following the conclusion of litigation brought by the leadership of four dissident congregations against the Diocese of New Westminster, Anglican Church of Canada, Grant Thornton LLP was engaged to conduct an Independent review of all available financial information from each of the four affected Parishes. The auditors were tasked with examining the financial material from 2002 to 2011.
In June, the Chancellor received the audit report. Currently the results are being analyzed and next steps are being planned. Diocesan Treasurer, Ian Robertson believes that the Diocese’s commitment to follow up is a very important component of the process. “As Diocesan Treasurer I am obligated to perform due diligence, to be accountable and to care for the assets of the diocese.” Robertson said. He went on to say that Diocesan officers plan to share the information from the report with representative leaders of the dissident congregations.
