International Anglican Women's Network in Canada is looking for young people who would like to join their delegation to the 61st meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York City. This opportunity is open to people of all genders who are interested in gender justice.
UNCSW 61 goes from March 13th to 24th, 2017 and the youth delegation is just the first week arriving early for training (March 11th-17th).
This year's priority theme is "Women's economic empowerment in the changing world of work." A familiarity with and passion for economic and gender issues is helpful, and there will be advance preparation. This is a wonderful learning opportunity for those who want to become more informed and engaged.
There will be some fundraising to help cover the costs of the trip and funding alone shouldn't prevent anyone from exploring this experience. Those who are interested in going must have a letter of recommendation from their priest or the Bishop, a letter saying why they would like to attend and they must complete an application form.
If you are interested, please contact Caitlin Reilley Beck or call 604-684-6306 ext 225 either for more information or to apply by December 1st, 2016.
