On Sunday, April 22, 2018, Palestinian Anglican priest, author and theologian, the Reverend Dr. Naim Ateek visited St. Mary's, Kerrisdale as part of a cross Canada tour promoting his newest book, A Palestinian Theology of Liberation: The Bible, Justice, and the Palestine-Israel Conflict.
Rev. Ateek is the founder of Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Centre and has been at the centre of shaping Palestinian Liberation Theology. The mission and ministry of Rev. Ateek was much admired and supported by former priest of our diocese, the Reverend William Roberts and the late priest of our diocese, the Reverend Dr. Donald Grayston. Retired Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster, the Right Reverend Michael Ingham is also a supporter of Rev. Ateek's ministry and was the MC for the event at St. Mary's, Kerrisdale.
International journalist and author, Hadani Ditmars who is based in Vancouver and is a parishioner at Christ Church Cathedral covered the event for the Middle East Eye, a London based online news portal that covers Middle East news and events.
