Lead and be Led was the theme at this year’s St. Laurence Women's Retreat. The annual retreat, which is in its' fourth year, was held at Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre in Maple Ridge, on the last weekend in May. The Reverend Kim Prokopchuk, Deacon at St. Dunstan's, Aldergrove, generously donated her time to spiritually lead twenty-four women from St. Laurence, Coquitlam.
"The space was amazing, the weather fantastic, and each year I am more and more amazed by what a blessing this community of women becomes", said event organizer Lianne Eriksson. The organizing team, led by Lianne, put together a wide variety of activities, including lively games and workshops, three forms of meditation, a movie with discussion, and even a chance to make their own Anglican Prayer Beads.
The women, ranging in age from 20 to 82, also enjoyed the chance to share music, worship, and praying together. "What I really took away from our time was just how well all these women work together to support one another in every possible way, and I feel I received everything I was needing and more", said retreat participant Candice Callaghan-Wilkinson.
Next year's retreat has already been scheduled and many are already marking their 2015 calendars as the annual event continues.
