Diocesan and Parish leader Mollie Ashworth passed away, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, after suffering a stroke on Sunday, July 29th.
Christ Church Cathedral curate, The Reverend Chris Dierkes was by her side and anointed her on the evening of July 30th. Mollie was a key leader for many years at St. David of Wales, Vancouver and for the last five years has been a faithful member of her current parish, Christ Church Cathedral. A Warden, Treasurer, Member of Synod, and Cathedral Chapter, Mollie was a very active supporter of the ministry of many neighbouring Anglican parishes and of the diocese as a whole. For her outstanding commitment and service to her faith and her church she was invested as a Member of the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster in 2011.
In her later years her mobility was greatly compromised but that did not stop her from attending worship at Christ Church Cathedral anywhere from one to five times a week.
Mollie's Memorial Service will be held in the Chancel of Christ Church Cathedral, Saturday, September, 8th, 2012, at 11am.
