St. Barnabas (1010 5th Avenue in historic New Westminster) is hosting a Dia de los Muertos dance to celebrate the new life that is breaking out here among us.
On Saturday, October 22, flashy Mexican dancers from the Caudillos del Sur dance troupe, the hot accapella soul quartet, What It Is, and the wild blues band, The Syndicate, will be lighting up the parish hall.
The St. Barnabas Latina women's group, the Esperanza project, will be cooking a feast, and there will be a chance to contribute photos and flowers to the typical Altar for the Dead.
There will be a raffle and door prizes, and a special prize for the best Catrina (day of the dead) costume.
Tickets are $25 ($10 low income), and all proceeds will go towards two new parish projects: a meditation garden in the church courtyard, and the very exciting New Westminster no-barrier community choir.
Everyone is welcome!
