“Passionate Embrace: Faith, Flesh, Tango is a story of desire, intimacy, and transformation, set in the sumptuous world of Argentine Tango. Sandra Vander Schaaf shares the provocative tale of an unexpected love affair with the world’s most sensual dance, and an equally unexpected experience of spiritual renewal on the dance floor. This is a vivid, eloquent, honest glimpse of Christian faith and doubt and the exquisite relationship between body and soul.”
Sandra Vander Schaaf is a member of St. Paul’s, Vancouver and among other skills she is a formidable photographer, a number of her photographs of diocesan involvement in the Liturgy of Reconciliation and Walk for Reconciliation, September 22nd have graced the pages of this website and will be featured in the November issue of Topic
On Sunday, September 29th, 2013, from 5-8 pm the Vancouver Fan Club on Granville Street near Nelson in the heart of Vancouver’s entertainment district was the venue for the official book launch party for Sandra’s new book. By 5:30, the downtown club was nearing capacity with a half a dozen couples on the spacious dance floor moving to the rhythms of the tango. It wasn’t long until the dance floor was full and so was the Vancouver Fan Club as Sandra’s friends from her tango community, faith community and beyond gathered to support her and celebrate this happy event.
Diocesan communications plans to print a review of the book in the December issue of Topic, the monthly print publication of the diocese. Stay tuned.
