The Ven. John Bailey was made Archdeacon of Westminster (which encompasses both Westminster and Burnaby Deaneries) by the bishop last month. The archdeacon's post was made vacant with the retirement of the Ven. Barbara Clay. Bailey will be installed officially at the May Synod and will serve a five-year term. Formerly the rector of St. Martin's, North Vancouver, he made an eastern sojourn to Ontario before returning to be rector of Holy Trinity Cathedral, New Westminster. He served as regional dean of Westminster since the year 2000, a position he continues to hold until a new regional dean is appointed by Bishop Michael Ingham.

The Rev. Albert McLane has been appointed by the bishop to a two-year term as Regional Dean of Yale. McLane is priest-in-charge for St. Peter's, Rosedale and All Saints, Agassiz.

Bishop Michael Ingham and Archdeacon Ronald Harrison represented the diocese at Vespers for the Dead at Holy Rosary Cathedral on April 7 following the death of Pope John Paul II.

The Rev. Trudy Lebans is scheduled for induction as rector of St. Laurence, Coquitlam for Tuesday, May 3. Her appointment is effective May 1. The induction of the Rev. Sharon Salomons, currently assistant priest for St. Philip's, Dunbar Heights, as rector of All Saints, Mission will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 with the Rev. John Stephens, rector of St. Philip's, preacher. Her appointment is also effective May 1.

So valuable have been the services of Marcia Sauder of St. Mary's Kerrisdale as chair of the Ministry and Congregational Development Committee, that Diocesan Council bent diocesan regulations to allow Bishop Ingham to appoint her chair for one more year. Beth Johnson was asked to serve as chair of the Stewards in Action Ministry Committee through December.

From the Diocese of Taiwan, the Rev. Lennon Chuang will be visiting our diocese for the months of July and August. He is a teacher at the St. John's and St. Mary's Institute near Taipei.

The Rev. Dr. Ellen Clark-King has been appointed a Pastoral Associate for Christ Church Cathedral effective May 1 on a three-year term. This is a new half time position resulting in part from the dissolution of the Cathedral Centre for Spiritual Direction. Ellen, whose husband Jeremy Clark-King is rector of St. Martin's, North Vancouver, will facilitate the ministry of spiritual direction development at the Cathedral, and provide pastoral leadership for women's ministry there in addition to liturgical duties.

The Rev. Clarence Li of St. James, Vancouver, was one of an 11-member ecumenical delegation that visited China from April 6 to 18. The visit was organized in collaboration with the United and the Presbyterian Churches of Canada. The goal was to strengthen partnerships with the China Christian Council and other Christian groups in Asia. Other Anglicans on the trip included Primate Andrew Hutchison and Andrea Mann, General Synod's regional mission coordinator.
