On Sunday, November 25th, 2012, the Christ Church Cathedral community celebrated their Patronal Festival in style with a joyful Celebration of the Eucharist, featuring
a fabulous sermon by VST Professor, The Rev. Dr. Richard Topping, great music led by Cathedral Choir and an after worship Block Party.
The feature of the Block Party was a catered lunch cooked in the lane by skilled chefs in the very popular
Vij’s Railway Express food truck. The Railway Express food truck is normally located weekday lunchtimes just west of the Cathedral on West Georgia Street. More than a couple of the 140 Cathedral parishioners who stayed for lunch mentioned that they were delighted to have the opportunity to sample the delicious sub-continental cuisine as the line-up for the Vij’s truck at weekday lunchtimes is normally quite substantial.
While the congregation happily chewed naan bread, basmati rice and a variety of flavourful curries, a 13 minute documentary film had its premiere showing. The film
I Hear Good News and I See Good News Embodied is a film that by asking the provocative question, “What would it be like if Christ Church Cathedral ceased to exist?” reveals what a number of parishioners interviewed value as members of the Cathedral community and as citizens of Greater Vancouver.
