In 2014 the diocese partnered with the Interfaith Institute for Justice Peace and Social Movements to produce an accessible teaching tool on the ways that Indian Residentail Schools impact the children and grandchildren of former students and survivors of that system. Hidden Legacies is a 23 minute documetary short by Anishinaabe film maker Lisa Jackson suitable for youth and adults. The community and classroom guide was produced by members of the Aboriginal Education Advisory of the BC Teachers' Federation. Copies of the DVD or Bluetooth can be borrowed from the Indigenous Justice Office at the Synod Office, but now the video is also available to view for free online on the small screen. This excellent resource is an example of practical reconciliation work that our church has undertaken.
