On Friday, September 24, the PWRDF Annual General Meeting took place via Zoom. The two hour Zoom meeting was also livestreamed on YouTube.
In attendance at the meeting was one of four new board members, Shailene Caparas, Director of Finance for the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster. Shailene also allowed her name to stand for the position of Treasurer of the Anglican Church’s world-wide emergency aid and international compassionate service organization. Following the AGM, the new Board met and agreed to an Executive Committee which is as follows:
Valerie Maier (Chair)
John Clarke (Vice-Chair)
Rev. Canon David Harrison
Basil Pogue (Secretary)
Valerie Isaac
Shailene Caparas (Treasurer)
Charlotte Lilley
When asked how Shailene plans to approach her new position and what her hopes are for PWRDF and the new board she had this to say:
It’s a delight and honour to be appointed Treasurer of the PWRDF Executive Board. I look forward to serving our partners and ministries with gladness and utmost dedication. My goal is to use my knowledge and experience in finance and CRA regulations to heighten board members’ understanding of financial statements, and to assist in the development of skills that will aid in assessing finance-related risks guiding us to make wise and prudent decisions. Solid financial knowledge and a well-thought-out strategy will serve to maintain the trust and confidence of donors and funders in the ways that resources are administered in obedience to 2 Corinthians 8:20-21. ("We intend that no one should blame us about this generous gift that we are administering, for we intend to do what is right not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of others.")
I also hope to add new energy and enthusiasm to the ongoing efforts of PWRDF, not only in stewarding resources but also in inspiring more Anglicans across Canada to participate in its faithful service as we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ on earth, especially to those communities served by PWRDF now and in the future.
Congratulations to Shailene and to the PWRDF board for this new partnership. Please keep Shailene and the PWRDF board in your prayers as they move forward in this essential ministry of the Church.
