The Long, Long Night of Hope, a fundraiser to support the Lookout Housing & Health Society’s North Shore shelter, is back at St. John the Evangelist, North Vancouver for a 7th year – and they need your help to make this the biggest campaign ever!

Since 2017, participants in the Long, Long Night of Hope have raised over $100,000 for shelters that provide support to people experiencing homelessness. While most of the funds raised so far have gone to North Vancouver’s Lookout Housing & Health Society’s shelter, approximately $4000 went to Kelowna’s Gospel Mission shelter when the fundraiser opened a satellite campaign in Kelowna 2021-2022.

Participants raise money through an online peer-to-peer fundraising platform, powered by non-profit agency CanadaHelps.org. Fundraising starts in January and will continue through March 19, 2023. Participants will also take part in the Long, Long Night of Hope event on February 25, when they will sleep in their cars in downtown North Vancouver to get at least an idea of what hundreds of people experiencing homelessness go through every night.

The Parish of St. John the Evangelist invites everyone to take part in the Long, Long Night of Hope! You don’t have to belong to a church, you just need to want to help people who are truly in need. Registration is free, there is no minimum amount to raise, and there is no age limit – past participants have been as young as 8 and as old as 88. Join on your own, join as a family, or create a team. Organizers are happy to help you!
