The Synod Office has just recently learned that the Reverend George Sendall, a retired priest of the Diocese of New Westminster, died on August 17, 2011.
George was born on May 1, 1913 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He later completed a Bachelor of Arts at UBC graduating in 1947 and, at the same time a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Union College.
George was a Presbyterian minister from 1948 through 1959 before becoming a lay assistant at St Stephen’s Church, Seattle. This seems to have been his introduction to Anglicanism which saw him ordered deacon on March 26, 1960 and ordained priest in December 1960 by the Bishop of Olympia. He served his curacy at St Stephen, Seattle from 1960-1961 and went on to join the Columbia Coast Mission as a missionary. He served for one year.
In 1962 he served as locum tenens at St George, Vancouver before being sent to as the temporary Priest-in-Charge of St John the Apostle, Port Moody and All Saints’, Ioco. That same year saw him appointed Rector of St Cuthbert, North Delta with St Michael, Surrey. The parishes were separated in 1969.) George continued as rector of St Cuthbert’s Church until his retirement on June 1, 1978.
Please remember our brother in your prayers and at the Altar.
