The Church of the Epiphany has enjoyed a continuing partnership with Chaldean and other Arabic speaking Christians from Iraq and Syria for the past four years. The majority of this group live close by to the Church and walk to and from services.
For three years the community have also attended Rosary on three nights a week. On Wednesday when there is Eucharist, Rosary is said first and then everyone stays on for Eucharist.
During May the community focuses on Mary and many of the women wear blue scarves or stoles. On May 30, the last Wednesday of May there was a special celebration with adults and young people gathering for Rosary, offering prayers at a stature of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Eucharist (using the Propers from the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth) followed by a party outside in the Church garden.
Approximately 35 attended the service and nearer to 50 were present for Rosary and the party where traditional middle eastern and Canadian food and treats were on the menu.
The Chaldeans are Christians whose origins date back to the 1st Century of the Christian era who have made their spiritual home at Epiphany to worship, pray and have fellowship with us week by week. Epiphany has been greatly blessed by the new friendships made and we look forward to working more closely together as one congregation in the future.
