"Episcopal Offices" are liturgies that require a bishop of the Church to preside and to engage in the liturgical action. These liturgies typically involve an action on behalf of the whole Church or for the sake of the Diocese as a whole. The primary Episcopal Offices are confirmation (to include reception and reaffirmation of baptismal vows) and the ordinations of deacons, priests and bishops. In addition bishops preside at the blessing of the oil of chrism and in some cases in the blessing of the oil of healing.
