St. Stephen the Martyr

The Parish of St. Stephen the Martyr, on Cameron Street, near the junction with North Road, has been in existence on its present site since 1913. Over the 100+ years, the neighbourhood has transformed from farmland to a busy urban hub, and this has brought with it changes in the parish's focus. Today the parish provides a ministry that recognizes the presence of Christ in and with neighbours, the poor and oppressed; in actions that further justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. In addition, the building is an important community hub hosting 12-step groups, adult exercise and music classes, a parent-participation toddler program, and a full-time daycare.

St. Stephen’s is an multicultural community, with members representing several ethnic groups, races and cultures. The congregation gathers for worship at 10 am on Sundays to celebrate Holy Eucharist and engage in Christian formation, including a Sunday School time for children and youth.

For over 45 years, the parish has operated the St Stephen's Thrift Shop one Saturday a month (usually the 3rd Saturday) where a carefully curated collection of used goods are sold. The Shop specialize in household goods, best-selling books, and women's clothing, including a selection of plus-sized items along with men's clothing, shoes, vinyl records and CDs, and a handful of toys and games.
