In order to better support parishes who decide to hire children's and youth ministers and to provide for fair and equal treatment for these employees, a set of guidelines for professional children's and youth ministry have been assembled. These guidelines include best practices for hiring, compensation, performance management, employment requirements, qualifications, competencies and ending employment. There is also a salary grid which provides a suggested hourly wage based on the amount of education and experience the employee has. The guidelines are available below in PDF form.
These policies and training resources provide guidance for parishes to develop their own practices for children and youth ministry in accordance with the principles of our Screening policy.
