There was an optimistic attitude amongst the 400+ at Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver, Sunday, April 26th, 2015, for the 10:30am celebration of the Eucharist. This would be the last Sunday that the CCC community gathers in the 120 year old church building at the corners of West Georgia and Burrard before a pilgramage several blocks south to worship elsewhere while the sanctuary of the church is closed due to construction. The construction will see the replacement of the roof, a renovated and enlarged kitchen and the building of a new bell spire.
The capacity congregation gathered on Easter III were treated to a funny, thoughtful and uplifting sermon by Cathedral deacon, the Reverend Alisdair Smith with the liturgy topped off with a postlude by organist Rupert Lang. Mr. Lang played an enthusiastic arrangement of John William's "Star Wars" themes which seemed perfectly appropriate for a congregation on the move.
