Preparation toward ordination to the diaconate includes a 4 month 'internship' in an outside parish.
Melody Goguen, applicant from St. George's, Maple Ridge, spent the months of September - December 2011 at St. Andrew's in Langley, attending the 8am and 10am services weekly and participating in elements of parish life thatfurthered her learning goals for this placement.
Melody works full-time for ICBC, has two school-age daughters, and her mom and dad to help her in her responsibilities as a single-parent. While in her internship at St. Andrews, she continued in the street-outreach ministry founded by St. George's that continues to grow and now involves a number of organizations including; other Anglican churches, other churches and community groups.
At St. Andrew's Melody preached, led prayers and acted as Liturgical
Assistant to the priest at the Eucharist. On December 18, 2011 the community celebrated our shared time together and gave her a parish farwell.
Melody will participate in the Christmas Eve services before returning to St. George's for Christmas Day and the Reverend Roger Cooper's last service there before he moves to become Rector of St. George's West Kelowna.
