The worship service began with the territorial acknowledgement.

In solidarity to the First Nations people and to honour the 215 children whose remains were found buried in unmarked graves on the grounds of Kamloops residential school, the parishes of St. Michael's and Christ the Redeemer both in Surrey offered a moment of silence and solemn prayers to their families and friends who mourn for the lost of their loved ones.
