The Diocese of New Westminster is committed to ensuring that clergy and those responsible for many of our ministries, especially those involving vulnerable persons, maintain the highest ethical standards of mutual respect, responsibility and caring. It is important to our ministry that we create safe environments and model wholeness and healthy sexuality in our relationships with all those for whom we have responsibility.
Sexual Misconduct Policy (last revised: August 2019)
The Sexual Misconduct Policy outlines the diocese's commitment to preventing sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse in our ministry. This Policy applies to every bishop, priest, deacon or lay person under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of the Diocese. Adherence to the Policy is required. Clergy, employed staff, and volunteers of the Diocese of New Westminster, its parishes and agencies, are expected to be familiar with the Policy, agree to it in writing and to abide by it.
See the link below under 'Downloads' for the Acknowledgement Certificate that should be signed once the policy has been reviewed. This certificate should be kept on file at the parish with the other screening records.
